Instead of using a collar these two were constructed using the metal attachment that was used to hold the spindle on the original office chair.
This cannot always be done as some are welded at an angle, and in some cases they use a metal casting.

The best way is to use the metal collar as shown on page 2 if you have access to a lathe, but this could be an alternative.
