Techniques - Preparing a pot to receive a tree
A straight piece of wire is used To make the wire shape for securing the mesh take a straight piece of 2mm wire.
The wire is bent using pliers Using a pair of wire pliers then bend the wire at right angles.
Measure the wire against the hole Once you have the one bend then measure it against the hole to see where the other bend is required.

The second bend is now made

The second bend is now made using the pliers. The bends should be as sharp as possible so that it fits snugly against the mesh.
Check the wire against the pot Now that it is completed then check it against the hole. It should be as tight as possible.
The mesh is fitted over the wire When you are satisfied it is the correct size then you can fit it over the mesh.
The wires are pressed back over the bottom of the pot The mesh is then fitted inside the base of the pot, and here we can see the wires have been pushed through the hole and are flattened out on the base to securely hold them in place.
The mesh fitted in place Here we can see the mesh secured in place in the pot.
