Case history

Prunus incisa “Kojo-no-mai” (Fuji Cherry) is a popular garden cultivar in the UK and very suitable for bonsai.
This tree was originally made from nursery stock, and was purchased as an “upright” tree.  Over a few years it was trained into this semi cascade style which would form an unusual framework for the flowers (the main aspect of appreciation for a flowering tree).

Here you can see the tree in Spring 2004.

It was repotted into this overly large “training” pot from it nursery pot the previous Spring (2003).
The main fertiliser used was “Biogold”
The tree was rewired in Summer of 2005.

The tree has recently (prior to flowering) been repotted into a rather more suitable Japanese pot.
You will note that the tree is much “fuller” and the trunk has thickened slightly.

The sphagnum moss is to protect the surface roots by helping to keep them moist.
