Spring 2000.
The "raw material" for this tree was a fairly expensive imported Juniperus Sargentii, which had a good trunk line, but a fairly ordinary overall design.
The objective was to create a more individual, minimalist image, with jin & shari.

This is the tree after initial styling, and some light carving to add interest to the shari.

It was fed well with "Biogold"and repotted the following Spring. (2001)

The tree had an abundance of fibrous roots.
The roots were gently washed with a hose pipe to remove all traces of the original compacted soil.

The selected Tokaname pot, in a matt brown/red colour.
The tree was repotted into a fast draining Akadama/Kiryu mix.

It is planned to feed the tree well next season, and further develop the pads. The aim is that the uppermost section of the shari/jin will just "glimpse" through the foilage.
