Full tree showingcandle extensions   Close up of candle extensions
A month after the tree was re-potted (the first week in May 2009) the tree was growing well as can be seen from the candle extensions in these two pictures.

By the first week in June 2009 the candles had opened to produce an array of fresh young green needles as can be seen in these three pictures.

A week later the tree was taken to our Artistic Bonsai Circle group meeting where we had Lee Verhorevoort working with us on our trees for the day.
During the day the new shoot tips were scissor pruned back to leave 2-4 pairs of needles on each shoot, this needs to be done as soon as the candles come into needle to promote budding at the base of the previous years needles.
