| Detailed views of the new leaves emerging. They are red in colour when they first open out but then change to green as they harden off. | |

Its now the second week in April 2005 and the tree is out in full leaf and as this picture indicates there are plenty of them. |
| The tree was taken to our April Artistic Bonsai Circle group meeting and the lush foliage was thinned out quite a bit. Larger leaves were removed preserving the leaf stalk, or petiole at the base of the leaf. Where multiple pairs of leaves were developing from this years shoots they were pruned back to leave a single pair of leaves. | |
