| These pictures were taken around mid June and as can be seen the tree has responded well to the earlier defoliation by producing a profusion of leaves. |
| The small shoot above the broken branch stub is growing well and has had a loose wire tie attached to it so that the young branch does not grow vertically up. The new branch needs to be encouraged to exit from the trunk in an upward direction then curve down to match the adjacent branch lines. |

| Just as we entered September 2005 most of the training wire was removed from the tree. Later that month the tree was taken to our Artistic Bonsai Circle group meeting when again the foliage was thinned out a bit, and generally tidied up. |

In addition to thinning out some of the foliage the new branch that was now growing vigorously from above the broken branch stub needed to be wired and shaped better. The picture shows the detail of the wiring with a coil of wire resting against the trunk to secure and anchor the junction, rather than the usual loop around the trunk. |

Now that we have a vigorous new branch growing from just above the point of the branch that we lost, we will allow this shoot to extend unchecked perhaps for another season. This is to get as much thickness as possible in the branch before we cut it back to start developing secondary side branches. We still have quite a lot of work ahead to replace that broken branch. |
