This photo shows the tree after defoliation. There are a few areas where a small number of the leaves have been left, these are weaker areas of the tree which are usually shaded by the foliage pads above, so they have been left to develop. |

The picture on the left indicates some new wiring which has been carried out. Some of the existing branches were starting to lift slightly so they have been eased down with wire tourniquets.
The right hand picture shows a bud that has developed above the broken branch stub. This is exactly what we were hoping for. Now this new shoots needs to be allowed to grow unchecked so we can develop a new replacement branch for the original one that was snapped off. |

| The above images show the shoot from a back branch that has been allowed to grow on and been wired as a candidate for an approach graft to replace the branch that was snapped off. Although there is a new shoot above the snapped stub we will leave this shoot as insurance should we still need to graft. |
