This view of the front of the tree was taken in February 2006 and in its winter image without the leaves the branch structure can now be clearly seen to carry out any wiring or pruning. The new young replacement branch, which has been allowed to grow unchecked, can clearly be seen. |

We are now halfway through April 2006 and the tree is in full leaf now, and growing vigorously. The fern in the foreground has been thinned out in order to expose more of the rock. |
| |
 |
Four weeks on and the tree is ready for leaf pruning. |
| |
 |
Virtually all of the leaves were removed from the tree leaving only the petiole in place. Some of the smaller leaves were left in place along with the leaves to the new branch, which we want to grow on unchecked in order to thicken up. |
| |
| The pictures below were taken in mid June and a second set of leaves has emerged after the leaf pruning a month earlier. The tree was taken to our monthly Artistic Bonsai Circle group meeting and had some leggy new shoots pruned back along with some wiring to new shoots. You can also see how much the new unchecked branch has grown. |
