Upon completion of the initial “rough” carving work the fine frayed edges of the freshly cut wood are removed by using a gas torch which produces a fine pencil thin flame. The flame from the torch burns off these fine “hairs” and when the charcoal that is produced is brushed in using a fine wire brush this also provides areas of visual tone difference. |
