Rough carving on trunks
Rough carving on other side of trunks

Upon completion of the initial “rough” carving work the fine frayed edges of the freshly cut wood are removed by using a gas torch which produces a fine pencil thin flame. The flame from the torch burns off these fine “hairs” and when the charcoal that is produced is brushed in using a fine wire brush this also provides areas of visual tone difference.
