16th August 2008.
The two photos above show the front and back of the tree before trimming. The foilage has been left to grow on this time to try and strengthen the thickness of the branches.
On the left we can see the lower tunk which has a lot of moss due to the heavy rain this summer.

Close up of front of trunk
Close up opf back of trunk
24th October 2008. These two photos show a close-up of the front and back of the trunk after it was cleaned with methalated spirits and gently with water and a toothbrush. Care has to be taken to make sure the bark is not damaged as it comes off very easily.
When there is a lot of moss on these trunks then they stay very wet and this can rot the bark very easily.
The photo on the right of the back of the trunk shows where the bark has been damaged some time ago and a new root has appeared inside the trunk as if it had been ring barked.
