This close-up of the roots over the rock show a couple of small roots crossing over the main roots. These will be left for the moment before it is decided if they should be removed.
As the roots have been covered in soil for the last four years the exposed roots have been covered in spagnum moss to keep them moist.
The moss will be moved after a couple of weeks.
View of the front and back of the tree. This tree will not make a good quality bonsai, but I have used it as it demonstrates that it is possible to produce reasonably thick roots clinging to the rock.
These two photos show a view of the cut off branch from different angles. The progress of this will be followed in the future.
