7th February 1999.
This tree was collected from a field with the owner's permission.
The tree is about 8 feet tall. Most of the top branches were cut off before the tree was dug up. Many of the big roots had to be cut.
These two photos show the tree just after it was brought back home.
After the tree was dug up the roots were washed in the stream to make it lighter to carry to the car, and the roots were wrapped in black plastic bags to keep them damp.
The roots have now been washed down with a garden hose and all soil, grass, and weeds removed. The roots are then soaked in Superthrive before planting up.
The tree has now been potted up into a plastic container. A wooden box would be better, but was not available at the time. The tree will now be carefully watered and fed and kept in this container for two years to allow the small roots to develop.
