11th September 2011.
These three photos show the tree after it has been prepared for the Winter months when it will be kept in the cool greenhouse later in the year when the temperatures drop to near freezing.

The bark is still peeling as the tree grows and the trunk was cleaned up with a brass wire brush before these photos were taken.

Wire is not used on the branches because of the possibility of marking the wood. Thin copper wire is used on this tree to pull the branches down. They do slack off with time and the wires were re-tensioned at this time.

23rd October 2011.
This photo shows the coloured leaves shortly before they fell off in strong winds.

Even now, the last few days of November, there has been no frosts and the tree is still outside.
