Pot ready for replacing the tree   Pot ready to receive the tree
3rd February 2011. The tree was repotted using 70% Akadama and 30% Kiryu. The photo on the left shows the pot which has been washed and wired ready for use. On the right we can see the tree has been placed in the pot. It was then removed and the media laid in the bottom of the pot.

On some of the lower parts of the trunk the bark has been peeled back to try and encourage more small roots to grow in between the large roots. This was tried at a previous repotting but was not successful. This time the soil has been built up and covered in moss. It will be important to keep this moss wet at all times to encourage the new roots and make sure they do not dry out.
