Case history

February 2007.
The tree was last repotted in 2004 and was repotted this time.
In this photo the bottom of the rot ball is being washed with a hose.

The roots are now ready for repotting and the media used was 70% Akadama and 30% Kuryu.
In this photo you can see two ugly roots, and it is intended to reduce them back at each repotting. It has to be done slowly so as not to kill part of the live tree.

New roots under the large root
To reduce the length of the root it can be seen in the photo on the left what has been cut off. In the photo on the right you can see the new roots that have developed under the large root which allowed us to do this.

The tree has been repotted and surface dressed.
Unfortunately there are no roots visible on the surface at the back of the tree.
